A big “Thank you” to our Judges


Michael E. Hockenbury is an award winning academic painter creating works that are both traditional and contemporary. His work emphasis a natural approach to Still Life/L'oeil paintings. His work also exemplifies a commitment of capturing the illusion of form, space, and composition.

He mainly works from both life and photos carefully depicting the interplay of light, shadow, and space. His compositions are academically designed and arranged in a theme with each object complementing the other in a meticulous formation of balance, repetition, and diversity.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. April 19, 1977, he currently resides in Swoyersville, Pa.

He began his studies at Luzerne County Community College earning a degree in Graphic Design and continued his education at The Wachulis Studio in Mocanaqua, Pa. While at The Waichulis Studio he was immersed in an environment of classical study while being encouraged to employ his own resourcefulness. He spent two years engaged in several areas of focus including Structures of Drawing, Anatomy of Form, Cast Drawing and Still Life/Trompe L'oeil.

Michael has been in various shows both locally and national. Some of notable shows are The Salmagundi Club Non-Members Show, New York, NY., The Allied Artist of America at the National Art Club Galleries, New York, N.Y., The Cider Painter of America Show in Shavertown, Pa., Five Artist Invitational Exhibition; Art Association of Harrisburg and The 2006 Pennsylvania Governor’s Awards for the Arts. Online shows include Upstream People Gallery.

Arthur Miller Is An Artist Who Works In Paint, Photography, and Computer Imagery. Mr Miller has received numerous awards for his works locally and nationally. He has taught photography at Luzerne County Community College, College Misericordia, Dallas, PA. & Marywood University, Scranton PA.

Mr. Miller is a Graduate of the United States Naval School of Photography, Luzerne County Community College with additional studies at Wilkes University.

As A professional Artist Art has provided thousands of Photographic illustrations for Magazines, Brochures, News Services, Ad Agencies, In house publications, Bill-Boards, etc. etc. nationally & internationally. He has created signed limited edition prints and original art for both corporate & private clients.

Mr. Miller has been a judge for many art competitions including the National Scholastic Art and Photography Awards.

Jim Rogowski has a BA in Art Education and has taught both at the High School and College levels. He teaches adult art classes at his studio. He is a member of many art affiliated organizations regionally and nationally including the Wyoming Valley Art League, MPSGS of Washington DC, the Hilliard Society of England, MASF of Florida and a Board Member of the Luzerne County Council for the Arts.  He is President of the Cider Painters of America, an Internationally renowned miniature artists organization. Jim currently is employed as the Director of Corporate Design for a regional firm.
